We know there is the ‘In Game’ or Travian world (the server you play on) and players real geographical location on planet earth or the ‘Real’ world. Understanding this simple concept may help you optimise your chances of survival and ability to thrive in game. People all over the planet are playing at any one time, but regardless of where players are situated in real life, most tend to sleep for at least a few hours a day. This gives the Travian world regular daily cycles of activity and inactivity depending upon where the majority of players live and which server you are on.
There are also activity spikes over weekends and declines over long weekends, when people may go away or socialize (heaven forbid) in first person. Now I know and im sure many of you know or do the following; set alarm clocks wake up frequently and take moves. This is fine but if its really that bad and you don’t have sitters so you can rest I suggest you might like to look at some of your life priorities, travian’s great, but in the end its just a game, life is more important.
Consider if you want your real location displayed in your player profile. If it is shown, players on the other side of the planet may attack you when you are asleep, catch your army at home and obliterate them, not good. By all means tell your alliance members. In one of my alliances we have players in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Portugal, Russia, Ireland, USA, Canada & New Zealand. We have also developed a system of sitters so that no one player is ever un-attended for more than about an hour.
This is how the real world can really help your in game play. I know of alliances where membership is based on living in a particular country or a state within that country or even a city. Great for team bonding, thought I would argue not often good for survivability. I have my location displayed on some games, no location on some and somewhere exotic like Antarctica on others.
