Travian New Player guide

A new player will start with one choice, which civilisation to be. There are 3 options to this, Romans, Gauls or Teutons. Then the player must start to build their village by upgrading the buildings that make it grow. Resource fields are the places in which resources are made, they are wheat crop, iron mine, woodcutter and clay pits. Every player will need all of the resources to keep their village going and survive.

The other buildings needed include, warehouse (used to store resources), Market place (used for trading and buying resources) Barracks (used to build troops ready for battle) Cranny (used to hide resources in the event of a raid) Academy (used for upgrading or researching new troop types) and there are many more building that are vital for survival of the player’s village.

When a new player starts they are given a certain number of days of “beginners protection” which stops any attacks on the new player which will give them a head start to defend their village from enemy raids. However they will also need to acquire troops of their own, which could stay back and defend or leave the friendly village to attack or raid an enemy.

Every player should at some point think about joining an alliance, this is a good way of getting protection. To join an alliance the player must first build an embassy, at level 3 of the embassy the player then has the option to form their own alliance and invite other players to join it. The more people in your alliance the higher rank it will be. Within your own alliance you can assign certain positions to other members of it.

Each of the three tribes (Romans, Teutons, and Gauls) have specific strengths and weaknesses. The Romans are relatively good in both attack and defence but are expensive and have a long process before they are strong and ready for battle. The Gauls are the peaceful tribe they have good defence but lack in the power to conquer enemy villages. The Teutons are the most offensive of the three they are feared for their aggression and rage in battle, the Teutons are for players who wish to attack more than anything.
