Travian village placement tips

with 12 comments

Just a few travian village placement tips here. Seems some players just place their villages completely randomly, often too far away from each other for no appearent reason, so I thought I’d write down some stuff on what to look for when building new villages.

1.Build them as close as possible to each other.
This is usually a good idea, as the closer the villages are to each other the quicker it is to transport both resources and troops between them. Generally you’d like your village number 2 to be the closest 15 cropper though, preferably one with 2 or more crop oases, and then you build your next villages close to this one.

7times7wvillage2.Place them where you get most out of your oases.
As you probably know there are several types of oases in the game, 25% of every resource, 25% of two types or resources as well as the 50% crop oases. If you have a wood oase close to you, chose to found the village on a tile where there is 5 wood, to get the most out of it. Just click all the tiles till you find one.

3.Take the 15 and 9 croppers in your 14×14 quickly.
These villages are very usefull, and it’s worth having a little longer distance to a village if it’s a good 9 or 15 cropper. If you use gold I’d advice you to take just 15 and 9 croppers in the beginning before you build any other types of villages.

This is all for now, feel free to leave comments or questions.

  3. Just use the combat simulator, the more troops you have the less you’ll loose.

  4. Hi iwind,

i really appreciate your work here. Good writings !

i am not arguing you bro, since i use your guide for roman as my primary plan :)

but when i take a 15c as my second village, i suffer a heavy burden in my pops and troops increment.

fyi, i always try to dominate my 14×14 first and ensure all my competitors pops and troops in that area are always low.

if my domination attempt is successful (there is no strong competitor for me to obtain that village), i think it would be better if i take that 15c as the third village, so that I have 2 support villages for its development.

I usually have my third or fourth village when my competitors are beginning to build their second village.

what do you think bro ?

  5. @ azis

its doesn’t takes too long to get 3rd village after 2nd. CP is very fast if you use small party. no big deal which one to build 1st. only diffrent in few days. if competitor is very high in your 14×14. get those cropper 1st.

  7. I am not sure how you take advantage of these oases (never done it). I guess you have to attack them and occupy them with a hero, but do they have to be close to your villages for a particular reason except logistics?
    Thanks for your help…

  8. When you’re taking an oasis, does it really matter how many troops you lose as long as you wipe out the opponent? What I mean is: it seems to me you should attack as soon as you get a winning majority, and build extra troops later, rather than building the extra troops first, and waiting for someone else to possibly take the oasis first.

Does this make sense, basically, my unplanned strategy is to try to take the oasis as soon as it’s possible. Then build like crazy to make up for the loses.

  9. i think that this is a good way, but arriving at the point taht you conquer and you leave the senators do the wok, is much more succesfull conquer 10 or 15 places away a 700 hab. village than create from 0 a village near you :S any discussion, my mail is cyranoidy@gmail.com i play like romans in server 9 . net and i`m 230 in the rank list , with 7089 hab.

  10. With 15c, if you use gold(NPC) Take it as you’re second village. Atm I can NPC twice a day on 16k positive crop, which gives me enough of each resource to build 2-3 more croplands. I have 5 villages about to place a 6th, and I get all my crop for my hammer which is about 3k crop after a month and a half or something. And I don’t need to ever supply my 15c with resources ever. All level 12 and about 4 lvl 13 tiles with 75% bonus already taken.

If you DONT use gold, you should most certainly settle another feeder then get the 15c. But with this try get cata’s as fast as you can so if someone else does settle it, you can cata it straight away. Either that or make sure you own either you’re 14×14 or better yet 21×21 which is fairly easy to do.

How would I go about getting a guide onto this site?

  11. what if you have some of friends around your 7×7 or 14×14 ? Stick to your 1st rules “1.Build them as close as possible to each other” ??
Or should I start to make a new cluster far away ?

    thanks.

ps: very nice site you have. Enrich my knowledge.

  12. I’m playing Gaul in french server, and 2 month after beginning the question I’m asking is that : why have new village closer, why not search an other good place to grow news villages, at 50 of my beginning place, to be in a place where new players are, with a 9c, and raid all ?
    I have a decision to take in 5 days….
